Free Un*x terminals by Hewlett Packard

HP it’s offering free Un*x terminals to try some OS:

  • HP-UX 11i v3
  • Linux (Debian Etch, Red Hat Enterprise 5, Madriva Corporate, SuSe server 10)
  • HP OpenVMS
  • FreeBSD 6.2

All this OS are running on different machines as HP Proliant servers or PA-RISC.

There’re some apps to test those servers, GCC, Oracle, Fortran compilers, etc

Shell Script – Restart Process if not found running

A script to Check if process is running and if not running
then start the process.

You can run this as a cron job in a 5/10 mins interval :


# check daemon
ps -ef | grep -v grep | grep daemon
# if not found - equals to 1, start it
if [ $? -eq 1 ]
/sbin/init.d/daemon start
echo "eq 0 - daemon found - do nothing"
